Sorting out the lights in the garage earlier, sun going down so using a head torch to see after I'd turned off the power. Did my safe isolation and all that wonderful stuff.

Started to loosen a terminal screw and suddenly an almighty blue flash and massive bang, I proper crapped myself. Stood on the stepladder wondering why I was still upright and not spread across two bikes and numerous tool boxes when I heard the rain belting down.

Damn you Thor and your thunder hammer!!!

Ouch. Was it a similar reaction to when you go up behind someone (please ensure you know it is isolated) working in a properly isolated panel and clap your hands?

Had trouble rolling a smoke afterwards!!!

I don't drink alcohol or wear underwear. One of those is a lie...

I had something similar once, used to have a pager and it was on vibrate so as not to annoy anyone, well everything isolated and tested so here we go,just put my finger in a terminal to retrieve a dropped screw when off went the pager boy did I jump.

Yesterday i was working at a bar, had grid switch cover off, all isolated at breaker, working away and a fly must have landed on the zapper right above my head whilst i had my fingers in the grid, **** that made me jump! It then happened again 5 mins later, it sounds just like a tiny flashover.

I love making the point about safe isolation by telling apprentices "yeah go ahead I've killed everything" Then when they're just about to put a driver on a terminal sneaking up behind them and screaming BANG!
It never fails to get the point across, I've even done it to my oldest son and will do it to my youngest in due course.
Yes my learned friends I really am that much of a git. Teaches them a good lesson though:)
