About to put in a 5/8" rod, unsure how best to label it up. Cannot take a BS951 label off a clamp as no way to fix it - large screw on rod clamp is too big.Wholesaler gave me a label with small fixing hole and a cable-tie - surely this is not good enough? How do you guys (properly) affix a label, and where do you get such labels from?

I hope that 5/8'' rod your intending to install is a 2.4m (10 footer), or two 1.2m coupled together for depth, otherwise you'll just be wasting your time!! Hope your not locating the rod within a metre of the house wall either!! lol!!

Either use a flush to ground concrete or heavy duty plastic earth pit, no need for a safety earth warning label then, both are clearly marked on the lids. By the way BS951 clamps are not suitable for connections to earth rods.

The label will be inscribed with the words "SAFETY ELECTRICAL EARTH - DO NOT REMOVE" and it refers to the CABLE.

Therefore, the "logical" place for the label to be fitted is on the CABLE and that is where I was taught to fit it.

Fine for electrical earth connections that are readily accessible say in a house, but in an earth pit where a tool is required to remove the lid of the enclosure, they are not required.
