My sat nav has just given up,

was looking at the garmin nuvi 1690 as it can find places through its google app,

does anyone know a better one that does not cost the earth (£200 ish is my limit)

No need to spend that much any sat nav that will take co-ordinates will do I have a basic tom tom
and use

Grid Conversion Results

just get your customers full postcode and the above link will convert it into co-ordinates for your satnav gets me to within 100 yards of address.

Hope that helps

i know that if i can get postcode any sat nav will do, i was just looking at something that might help more.
say im at a job and need the nearest wholesalers the google app will find it (yes my phone can do that)

Just want a better satnav and this one looked good, just wanted to know if there was a better one that did more for about £200

I had one of the first navman ones cost a fortune.but saved the guy who cant read a map the right way round (ME) a load of time and diesel. I get lost coming out of the shops in the white rose ctr left - right ? oh disoriented again. the best feature i liked about the navmans were the house numbers that appeared on the screen usually within 2 houses . brill when hardly anyone has house numbers on their doors any more that used to drive me mad. i have just fitted one of those satnav- dvd player- bluetooth- all sining all dancing car stereos into the car. only 200 all in.

I have just bought a garmin 860 ~ voice recognition (no need to take your hands off the wheel), traffic alerts, bluetooth, mp3 (with fm transmitter), POI's oh and maps:p

It is end of line top of range bought from Halfords for £99.00. One issue with it though with all that software; when I have 'safety' camera alerts turned on, the screen keeps locking up ~ waiting for a software fix from Garmin.:(

All singing and dancing head unit sounds good Phil, what make?

4s gps. it`s not a branded one. only problem i have found with it is with it being in the din mount you can`t alter it when the sun comes through the window like you can with the screen ones, but the voice just comes over the radion when you need to turn so no real need to constantly look at the screen.

I've got an old model Mrs Lenny 3000......keeps telling me to go the wrong way, voice gets louder the faster you go and the memory only lasts a couple of hours.:( Only works 3 weeks out of 4 aswell.:D

Ha-ha I have a similar model it still tries to direct me from the back-seat, the problem with these old models is you can't turn the speech off; especially nag mode!
