went to a flat to do a job, pulled up a floorboard and someone wired new storage heater circuits fairly recently (new colour cable), they had wired through old notches in top of joists instead of drilling new holes and then screwed plastic conduit box lids over to 'protect' from screws nails !!! had to laugh!!!

i dont see whats funny ?
common practice not too long ago to use metal lids as protection.
as for joist notches , why not reuse instead of weakening it with further holes ?

your either trolling ( badly ) or just dont get out much.
;-)

metal lids maybe but plastic???
they weren't even the flat plastic ones but the ones with groove sticking out on the back to fit in the conduit boxes. no wonder that floorboard was sticking up about 4mm higher than the rest

i think metal lids are ok
if one looks at old houses the joists can look like swiss cheezze
( if boys on here know what swiss cheezze is(hint its under your foreskin)
