Hi all, new member here, currently a 3rd year Apprentice, im doing a C&G 2391 course at the moment, and have a problem with filling out one of the boxes on the test results, have the practical in a week so trying to master all the test procedures etc:

On the generic test results it has a single 'Ring' box, number 8, where as most of the other NIC etc, which have the branded logo's on all have three seperate boxes L-L N-N and E-E, what is entered into the Ring box ??

Any help apprecieted

Womble !

Hi, one the old form you ticked box 8 to say you had checked continuity of the ring. The new forms necessitate that the actual readings you get from the continuity meter on LL, NN and CPC are recorded.
cheers

It sounds like you are using a form based on the pre-amendment model forms, not the generic test results model forms in the amended Regulations.
It would be a tick for pass, or a cross for fail.
The new model form has separate boxes for r1, rn and r2.

Hi and welcome,

It depends on the version of Shedule of test results sheet you are using.

On the previous IET sheets to 17th ed. 2008 the box marked ring was just a tick to say you had confirmed ring final continuity, and was only applicable to ring final circuits.

On the latest IET sheets there are three boxes for ring final circuits, as you mentioned above, marked r1, r2 and rn, these are similar to the L-L, N-N and E-E you mentioned, and now you have to fill in a measured value for this, rather than just ticking a box.

Iam typing too slow again! lol

They ought to be able to check for the voltage going completely off using one MCB off at a time to confirm that. That would be my assumption...
