I can not stand schemes, but the niciec is the hardest one to get into and still the most popular with the public and builders etc and will get you more of a look in for work imo

I joined the NICEIC one. Its the most well known so I think its better for getting work. I cant understand why people think its the hardest to get onto. I found it ok. The way I see it is that if you want to join a scheme, you should have confidence in your abilities to do the job, if you have that confidence, you will have no problem. If you understand what is in the onsite guide, you will be ok.

You pay your money and take your chance. The NICEIC are the largest membership, and also the most restrictive as to what you can and can't do under their banner unless you have been assessed for this that and whatever, or so it would appear from what i read here and elsewhere. Elecsa now part of the ECA are on the up, British Gas jumped the NIC ship to go with Elecsa, and so have a few others. Elecsa will let you do PIR's etc using their Logo on your paperwork, they do have a PIR assessment scheme but it isn't compulsory, and it isnt free either. I have been with Elecsa since Part P came in and i have no complaints.

Cheers..........Howard
