Just a grizzle really... one of our sites uses a couple of four channel timers to control contactors for the discharge lighting. They've been reliable for ages but one went up the spout last week. Got one of the lads to change it and he came back moaning a bucketful. Complained about how the new ones are totally different to the old ones and how programming them was a pain in the doo-dahs. I thought he was just banging his gums till today when I went to a reported problem.
He was right (bless him ) It's a farce. Couldn't get it to copy the programme from one day to the next cos we use multiple switching times and apparently they are illegal operations. Much button pressing and cussing later and it was programmed. Can't for the life of me find out how to override it to test the lights, had to resort to a crafty bit of wire and a sneaky pinched supply. Very 17th edition lol.
As for the instruction leaflet, It's most definitely a case of style over substance. Must have been written by a committee of advertising executives on a boozy lunch."Discover the timer function" isp the heading of one section and it goes on in the same vein. Our lass would probably be impressed by it but unfortunately for schneider she doesn't buy electrical equipment. I do and I'm not impressed at all...
Thanks for letting me offload ;-)
