Personal opinion they aren't worth the hassle just for the sake of seeing two screw heads. They can be a nightmare if the back boxes aren't perfectly flush to the plaster work, the plates ride up at the corners. kids shouldn't be able to pri them off though. The ones you have seen on ebay will fit standard 25mm back boxes it says in the advert, I would be sticking in 35mm just to be sure. If you do decide they are worth getting, get some descent quality ones the retaining clips are far stronger and will take a little more abuse whilst installing them.

Hi all

I am undertaking a house renovation and have seen screwless sockets for sale on ebay - for example:

Screwless Satin Double Socket White Insert 13A 2G Twin on eBay (end time 29-Mar-10 19:40:58 BST)

and I wondered if:

1. They would fit in standard back boxes?
2. How easy is it to pull off the front plates as I have two children?
3. Are they worth the extra money over non screwless sockets?

Thanks in advance

Andrew

1: just but 35mm is better
2:No require key or screw driver
3: Depends on your personal preferance

got these in my house in kitchen cant remeber the make but there crap the fronts now and again fall off think thats because of the tiles not been %100 perfect though

il never get them again

and i used 35mm boxs just incase

they may look easier in the eye than standards but my experience of these have been bad,had a job few years back with antique gold legrand switches/sockets,push on clips kept breaking, bending etc, then fitted click/mode satin finish switches on dry lined boxes(you cant get more of a flush finish than that can you, they flapped about also,i never want to use those things now,not for the sake of 2 screws, they do not last the test of time in my opinion.
