Evening chaps,

Got the 22mm bit stuck in the 36V SDS today!! and try what I may, it's wouldn't budge!

Any good tips for tommorrow when we attempt extraction?

Thanks

Thanks for all the short notice suggestions!! Yep we tried WD40 ect but still no luck!

I worried about trying to force it incase it's something with the mechanism thats damaged! Thinking about it could be a trip to our power tool fixer.

I've also had sds drill bits stuck in the chuck on a couple of occasions, usually when some animal has run the chuck against a stationary surface whilst drilling. I drop it in our workshop and they've sorted it out on both occasions. I've always been scared to ask what they did cause I'm pretty sure I won't like the answer but maybe I'll quiz them tomorrow in case they have a particular technique.

I'd go for the bench vice. Have you tried it in reverse (not trying to be funny). I mean op. direction to the one it jammed in as it may loosen. Prob need whole body wrapped round drill when you try it though.

Otherwise angle grind chuck away / remove and get a new one. Usually a screw in the middle thats all.

Doesn't the chuck come off the Bosch SDS 36v, mine does? You can swap it with the keyless chuck for whatever reason, wouldn't fancy putting 2" 10's in with it!

Can you not remove the chuck then give it a twonk with something from the inside out if that makes sense.?

Waterpump grips round the shank of the bit.....close to the ckuck...2 pairs of hands needed here.....firstly try to twist the drill bit a little with the waterpump grips....might be enough to "unlock/unjam" it.....if not then use the waterpump grips again on the base of the bit...and rap it sharply with a hammer you shouldn`t need to pull the collar back for this as if its just "frozen itself in" so to speak ...the shock should do enough to free it......

Id hazard a guess that the ball bearing has moved out of its housing and it needs to be repaired, sorry for not being very helpful

Had this on several drills , if you do strip it down make sure you are in a totally clean and empty room as the ball bearing always seems to fly off over me shoulder into a pile of !!!! every time i have tried it !:nonod:

Prob need to bit out to gain access to the retaining screw.
