i can only blame skimming posts and maybe 4 pints.

only reason is that 0.75 mm is easier to get into the alarm panel. whichever you use, the ends should be ferruled.

hello here is 2 photos of the socket i was thinking about coming off of it is actually a single radial socket on its own 16A mcb so really all i would be doing is carrying on the Radial correct?

Looks nice and easy to extend as well - surface mounted and only one cable to worry about.

yep. comeoff socket in 2.5 T/E into unswitched FCU next to alarm panel. 3A fuse in FCU.

I've never installed a security alarm so for future informations sake why do the ends need ferrullering?! Does it prevent false alarms or something?

it's only the mains lead flex ends need ferrules. the alarm cable terminals are designed for direct entry with alarm cable ( they have cable guard plates to stop the problem of fine strand flex cables into screw terminals. ). if you have several wires for PIRs 12V supply, etc., though sometimes a good idea to put all in ferrules, then 1 or 2 might not otherwise make a bad connection.

edit.and don't fold the ends of alarm cable over.

New Q the texecom panel lets you use fire sensors so i am going to install one in most of the rooms what i would like to know is it ok to use alarm cable out should i new the red fire alarm cable but noticed the smallest is 1.5mm is that not over kill for a 12v sensor
