Good evening to all,

Does anyone know of a security light of about 400w which has a PIR and the facility for a switched permanent on?

My customer has a number of lights installed about 4 years ago, between 4pm and 9pm the lights (all 13 fittings) are switched on permanently for H&S reasons but after 9pm switched off. Six of the lights are dual purpose and have PIRs for security, there are 4 wire, nuetral and CPC, live off one switch for on (common to all 13), live off a second switch for the PIR (Common to these 6).

The problem is one faulty and 12 not so a direct replacement is required or cost becomes enormous and most new ones use 3 wires and an electronic switch for permanent on. Never the twain shall meet.

Thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

just wire it as the old one so you have L,N &E for the PIR, and a 4th conductor from the override switch, connected to the PIR output terminal.

Can you physically get onto the output wire on a fitting with built in PIR? But something I will definately look at as an option.

normally you can get to it easily. most fittingd are 4 terminal as they will also power a second light from the PIR. so you have Lin,N in and Lout. (cpc as well of course)

That's the bit I was missing, look for one suitable for looping. The 2 I looked at today had not the facilty to loop to additional lights.

many thanks

steve

have a look at the timeguard PIR floods. they are a nice piece of kit, and have the 4 terminal configuration.
