Security light.

Hi all, I've just fitted a basic security light on my house wall with a automatic sensor. The problem that I've got is fitting the wires. I have connected the live neutral & earth as in the diagram. The problem I've got is that there is one more wire left which is yellow but not sure where this goes. I have a switch inside the house which does not work at the moment so the yellow wire must have something to do with that. The light works fine just need to fix the other wire but unsure where it goes, any help would be appreciated.

I am sorry but we cannot really tell how the light was wired originally, it may be the yellow wire is a manual override. If the light is working OK with out this connection then, after turning off the supplying circuit and checking that all the wiring at the light is dead with an approved contact voltage tester, the yellow wire could be terminated into a wago connector inside the light fitting.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have checked the yellow wire and it is not live. If I remember right the old light had four connections for all 4 wires, but on the more modern light like this one there is only three conection red blue & yellow/earth. Like I've said the light works how it should except I can't use the switch inside the house unless the spare yellow can be connected somewhere.

Some security lights have four terminals, the last one normally being labelled L* or L1 and this is a direct connection to the lamp for a manual override or connection of a second light to the system.
Other lights like yours only have three terminals, for permanent line, neutral and earth, they do not have the terminal for a manual override connection.
