i took this out of a hot water tank that has 3 x 20kw heaters. the tank is 10 months old. wat is the cause of the scale build up and wat can he do to stop it. its in a hair salon.

That looks oxidised on top of just limescale. Copper filings in the tank?

Only thing can really be done for it is to fit a good quality filter before the tank.

calgon. and don't forget to strip the copper for your scrap bin. try a corrosion resistant element as well

Are a lot more resistant to corrosion than the copper elements, which can help in medium / hard water areas.

Very hard water combined with particles in the water.

As mentioned, an aqualoy immersion should solve the problem.

Not heard of aqualoy, but my link earlier in this post should help as they are alloy sheathed for hard water areas.

Essentially the same as you posted, I've just always known them as aqualoy's.

It's a bit late to remove the scale once you have heated the water and clogged the cylinder with scale

They are designed to fit into the cold water supply to electric showers, washing machines , hot water cylinders or any other appliance that is prone to scale
