Hello to everyone i am new here, and I am seeking an advice as do not know what exactly to do.
I have been asked recently by one of my costumer to test the installation it requires an CCU replacement, and also been asked to issue an electrical installation certificate ,the problem is what certificate shall I issue if i am not registered as a approved contractor, and who should be informed that the job been carried out, where I can get this certificates.I am qualified Electrician. Please help,if something not clear please ask::Many thanx to all.
You need to issue an electrical installation certificate, they are free to download and copy from the IET
Being an aproved contractor is completely irelevant
All electricians can and should issue certificates for their work
Unfortunately we also have to follow building regulations procedure(part p notifiable work)
They should be notified of the intended work before it starts and they will charge the customer
You can avoid paying them by becoming a member ofr self certificating scheme and the notification is done through them avoiding the fee
contact your L.A.B.C (local authority building control) i am in same position any work that involves a new circuit from c.c.u. needs to be notified and special locations e.g. bathroom, kitchen etc once you have done a few and given certs out register to elecsa or n.i.c.also you supposed to inform supply authority to remove fuse and re-fit after which is another cost and hassle some say just pull fuse yourself some dont needs all sorting out part p just excuse for more money of you and customer
You could consider joining Napit on a just 8 scheme to start with. In the long run it should perhaps prove to be cheaper than notifying each time you do work via the LBC.
They have a system where you can notify on line and help you with advice etc.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes
Rex
