Hi guys just a quick one to see what you guys think, completed my apprenticeship earlier this year, NVQ 3 AM2 etc, but a few of us didn't quite understand why we still had to do the full 17th edition course which we had to pay for when we had spent 3-4 years being trained to 17th edition regulations, unless I'm missing the point surely you would have thought it would be integrated within the apprenticeship, is it just a money making thing, personally don't agree but what do you think ??

the reason is that you have that piece of paper that says you are qualified up to current regulations. most employers will insist on it.

When I joined niceic and they asked for it, I said the same thing to them and they said that's fine no need as you have been trained to that edition

As dave said what's your plans?

Try and just do the exam. Not the course. If you know your way half round the regs book you'll boss the exam it's well easy. You have to get 17th ed. - ironically it's the only one you actually need for niceic and as said above all firms will insist on it.

if you qualified earlier this year you should be 17th edition qualified cant see why you would need to do an additional course ,
most my apprenticeship was to 16th edition but when i passed fica it was 17th edition thus making me 17th edition qualified.
then the green book came after that the amendment.
