I'm newly qualified Electrician, and want to set up a business. I want to register with - eg. NICEIC, but as my business doesn't exist yet I can't put them on to any of my work... anyone know how I can get around this???

You will have to do a couple of jobs so that they can check your work and certs etc. Not all work is notifiable so try find a builder who is doing a job to plans and or building regs, this way you dont need to notify the works as that is all covered under the full plans application fees that the customer pays to the council.

Alternatively do a job that doesnt require notification like adding some sockets to a bedroom in your own house.

If you cant get any work via builders where LBC are monitoring the work then like Sirkit says do some work around your home. A good way to start would be to upgrade the consumer unit and do a full certificate and then they can check this on the inspection and you can then notify it (if you pass) The inspectors will let you do this.
