Ok question my client who wanted sanyo!which i was promised for monday! now not coming! told me he has looked into it and said if i put another panel on the roof we have 12months to alter the system to (sanyo) without effecting the FIT? answers on a postcard:)

Bull**** - what would you do with the other panels? They are second hand and worthless because they don't attract the Fit and the new Sanyo's would be a new installation qualifying for lower rate Fit, including the C rating if installed after 1st April 2012.

Unfortunately customers will be forced to accept panels that are available not panels from choice Worcester was advising this weeks ago when we were speculating about a January change in Fit. It's not the way we normally work but it's not our fault - tell your customer to knock on the door of Greg Barking.

I hate working like this it's against everything I believe in, but we don't have a choice at the minute. One of my clients thinks I'm having a laugh when I tell him how much the cost fo Sanyo has increased this week. He thinks I'm just out to screw customers for extra cash - all a big joke - NOT!

I suspect that your customer has probably (mis)read some of the FiTs legislation around extensions to systems. These did lock on to the original tariff within a 12 month window. So if the original system was 2kW and another 2kW was added within 12 months then the full 4kW was paid at the same rate based on the earliest Eligibility Date.

But DECC changed the rules on this last month and it no longer applies to extensions. The extended part now always gets paid at whatever the rate is at the time of installation.

And, as SRE says, this wouldn't apply in the case of swapping panels.

I guess one work-around would be to replace the panels under warranty. But the removed panels could not be used for another system that was claiming FiTs - or at least not legally. Ask your wholesaler if they would accept them back for a full credit. :D
