In the CFP alarm sense manual, the circuit showing the alarm sense sounders shows + - at the sounders.
I just took this to indicate the sounders were polarity conscious, although it doesn't actually say this. Says to look at the manuals for each device.

Just looked on the C-tec website, your right they're not polarity conscious. In answer to your earlier question, it looks like all 5500 series sounders are compatible.

@tazz would be the man in the know... from what I've read the sounders must be polarised they sit at a voltage between 9V-15V when quiescent and when the voltage rises above 20V the sounders activate.

Are both showing faulty or just 1 ?

Just read your post in reply to Lee, you mention End of line resistance ?
The manual I've got, shows 0.47uf 50v End of line Capacitors on the sense circuits.
The 6k8 resistors are for when you install conventional sounder circuits.

Are you using Apollo Alarm Sense or are you using a 2 wire system.
If your using a 2 wire system then the sounders must be wired reverse polarity. All fire alarms weather on sounder circuits or combined zone circuit, change polarity when in alarm status, this is why bells etc have blocking diodes. Can you state the panel and exact equipment your using

do they have to be wired in reverse? I was reading this link which said they are operated on voltage.
