Seems a common thread......... Outside bulk head...separate PIR.......wired..... live to PIR, neutral to bulkhead, switched live back to bulkhead, ( pir marked L and L1 but with a N???)........ Bulkhead remains ON....constantly... tried all the normal stuff switched off and on etc etc etc .....quite an old PIR apparently......anyway my question...do i need a neutral to the pir???... I assumed the pir would act as a 'switch' when activated.........

Or is it me????

Is it the L and L1.......should they be swopped????

Suggestions...... (constructive please)

I'm with the rest of the gang, all the PIRs I have seen weather integrated into a fitting or separate have a neutral connection in them. Also be worth checking the MI of the PIR to ensure you have connected the L and L1 correctly.

all the PIRs i've ever seen require a neutral. L and N in. S/L and N out.

The only PIRs I've really seen without a neutral are like these.

No Neutral PIR Presence Detector. A contemporary styled fast fit presence detector with concealed fixing screws. This detector does not require a neutral ...

According to Nelly's profile he's a qualified sparky.

As such I'm sure he's aware that whatever theories are presented here he needs to follow the manufacturers instructions including their suggested wiring. Consequently it's something of a moot question so thread closed.
