Hello everyone.

Has anyone installed sequence lighting before? Im not actually sure that this is the term for it but basically my client wants her driveway lights to light one after the other. So when she comes to the beginning of the driveway the first bank will light up then the next and so on.
Could anyone recommend a unit to use or is it a case of wiring in a small timer to each bank of lights?

Thanks
Steve

All depends on how fast she is going up the drive is she walking or when she in the car, or if she goes out for a run at night. If she wants lights to go of after she's parts them then go for a PIR setup or go for a automation set up, or just tell her she's got more money than sense, it can be done have done it before with a loxone System but the amount of calls I got after Setting it up is not Worth it ie lights come on too fast, lights come on too slow, every time a local wildlife walks up my drive the lights come on can you stop this as the lights are just for me. Just tell her to keep the headlights on and it will illuminate the area in front and the area behind as you go past will go dark, if walking use A touch that is the area in front will be illuminate and the area behind will go dark. Good luck with this on as have tried it about five times and it has never been what the customer wanted but it has been what they asked for at the beginning

If they have really got more money than sense you could set up a system using something like RFID where a specific car can be tracked.

They could even get RFID tags fitted in the soles of every pair of shoes they own!

Good questions. Ive not spoke to the client yet, this is from the builder who is cladding the driveway so it will defifintely be problematic. They do have money as this huge 5 bed chalet is just their holiday home!!

However Im thinking a PIR at either end, one set of lights triggered by the one and the other set by the other PIR. Connected with a time delay relay.

Thanks for the head-up Egg, probbaly wont use that Loxone system then if its not great.

I will let you knnow what I come end up doing, thanks for the info.

if you can solder and have bit of electronics skills then a bank of relays controlled by something like arduino pro mini or bare atmel/pic microcontroller and 20 lines of (copy and paste) code. 30 quid in parts.

Plus quite a big liability arising from manufacturing and selling a control system from base components.

Whereas you're on much firmer ground putting a bunch of standard din rail timer relays in an enclosure and connecting them
