Re: Seriously fooked off

you can usually get tools added to your PLM insurance, but afaik, it don't cover for tools left in van over night.

Re: Seriously fooked off

Sorry to hear about this

However i look upon it the other way, i understand its your property and you should be able to do as you please with it, but i realise this day in age, some people will do anything for a bit of cash

Hence all my kit been kept in a large stanley wheel box & a open tote tool bag, all the rest is secured in the van vault

On a evening after i finish the toolbox and open tote bag come into the house, i cant afford to lash out 3k on buying a new set of tools/equipment

+ this way the tools are insured as they are inside the house, if i were you id damage your front door and tell them you had them in the passage way of your house, claim on insurance for damaged door and your tool kit !

I sound like an expert dont i , im really a good law abiding citizen

Un protected side of a mains board Van wired to mains big sign indicating if they stupid enough to touch your van then then tuff ,having said they they are nicking the live cables these days so not much of a deterant realy

I caught a labourer once trying to whip my hammer I grabbed him by the throat and explained to him that taking my tools was the same as taking the bread out of my mouth.

Also a little bit trivia there is a law that has been in place for the past 500 years or so that saysif you are a tradesman (or woman) and you go bankrupt they can take your belongings to pay off your debt but cannot take any of your tools

I'm very sorry to hear about this - it's a real b'stard's trick. It's also one reason why I never had a van - I always used cars. Over the years, I had 2 Volvo 740s & 4 Mazda 626s. They were all normal saloon types, but I could get all of my gear into the boot & with no advertising on them nobody was any the wiser !!
