Anyone else been contacted by Service Magic ? What a joke, They don't charge any commission or a monthly fee however they think they can charge you for the leads they supply regardless of their actual worth or their validity.

So I was told, they do check up on all leads to confirm they are genuine and can confirm that if it says new fuse board required that is indeed the case.

I told them to cease and desist contacting me my email, phone, letter or smoke signals from their burning homes.

What a bunch of thieving pathetic miscreants.

only like `rated people` then...

Mind they are persistent once they get a grip they will not let go plus you know how bad it is when their T&Cs make it hard for you to get out. This is a thing the government should be looking at ie I thought this was a trial period A yes but you did not phone up 48 hours before to cancel it and also you never said the magic word . But I phoned you a week before Yes but that does not count as you should have phoned 48 hours before where all our telephone lines would be busy. Yea but I took the name of the girl who took my call Clariece A we dont have a Clariece here .

Ok then I will contact trading standards and apply to get a copy of the telephone calls that you recorded and that I noted the times and dates. Ah there you go sir thats it now cancelled

yeah....well when i was working with leigh the phone would ring constantly with offers of crud like this...
see he had a hands free setup in the van so i could hear all that they would say to entice you into their fold..
like this one time when this dim witted bint rang up offering advertising...
now, Leigh already had an add in the press (free paper issued on public transport)..that was on a friday....
then he also had thursday in the yorkshire post (Leeds)...but it just gets to the point where it starts costing more than you will ever get back..but this bird...well i`l give here 9/10 for persistance...its just that every time she rang back the price came down for the same amount of exposure...
so i guess the moral here is: never take the first offer you are given if you want to endorse such things....
but agree with you Old...most of it is parasitic crap....
we dont need it just now...

These companies in my view are a race to the bottom and as I have said before if it gets that bad then you are better off working at Tescos. Yes you have to advertise but there are other ways to build up an reputation

most stuff i get is from folk that know me...or have passed the word...
look, advertising/exposure is important but being heckled every 2 minutes by scroats and hanger onners such as this is a nonsense...

I always sort of defend 'Rated People' as I've been using them 18 months and as I keep saying done very very well from them , I have 85% success rate of turning quotes to work, I can't complain , on my 6th rewire with them at present plus lots of other jobs, the more them and other organisations like them ram in down the consumers throat, the more the customer will use them, the reason is simple , it works well for them and its free, they cannot lose, we all better get used to it because I reckon 50-75% of all private domestic tendering may go this way , even light commercial are using it
