This topic probably been covered numerous times but hey here goes

I'm a service engineer mainly working on fire alarms etc and am trying to find a decent tool bag/case for everyday use for basic kit, had the ck plus bag but quite heavy even with bare minimum in, most of my gear is in one of the blue bg bt style boxes which is ok but can be a pain carrying around big sites or if on foot in town

Anyone got any recommendations? Need to carry few basic hand tools multimeter etc and various spare fuses and resistors etc

Thanks

Ive had one of these for a long time now - Draper 87359 DRAPER EXPERT TOOL BAG 420 x 230 x 290MM from Lawson HIS UKot to say its lasted well with jab saw/claw hammer/floorboard lifter rattling around in it, screwdrivers/side cutters etc in the pockets, 4 cell maglite etc, theres a fair bit of room tbh and at the price is well worth it.

I've recently changed from a soft bag to a hard toolcase for service jobs, its a unior, fairly cheap and seems to be holding up well so far. The biggest advantage is that I can find tools instantly, some jobs I can be in and out in the time I would previously have been rummaging for an elusive socket in the bottom of the bag.
Another advantage is that it looks quite smart, so for a service call in Harvey Nics you dont feel like a tramp! Going through airport security is faster as everything is pretty much on show.
It could really do with a shoulder strap for that long march through pedestrian areas though.

regards, Steve.

Yeah seen a couple of cases on the web one guy selling one badged up bt got the puzzle foam in bottom and tool holder and document pocket in lid £20 might try that and buy a small organiser box for fuses etc

Thanks

I just recently bought one of these..

I had originally thought of getting the CK one that is very similar, but more expensive. Unfortunately, the CK one I looked at did not seem that well made, and I was not that impressed at all.

I know that Forge Steel aren't exactly a top brand, so I just ordered one for pickup at my local Screwfix trade counter, and said to myself if its not up to scratch I'll just return it there and then.

Anyway, I was well pleased with it, and for £14 I really don't think you can go wrong. You will see that the 2 reviews that it has are both from sparks, and both 5 star.

Cheers

Them veto look good think it's a definite future purchase but funds a bit tight at the minute like the look of the rucksack like the idea of the hard case too but will end up getting battered about in the back of the van

Hang around for long enough and Eskimo will update his latest aquisition to a newer on and off load his old Veto for half price through the Forum lol

Well I think I'm going for the rucksack and save up for the veto think also I might get one of the lift & lock mentioned by another member in a separate topic

Thanks for the input

Ive got a stanley fatmax rucksack type bag, feels well made n plenty o space for all my 2nd fix gear, leaves my hands free to carry more stuff

I've ended up with two CK's - one for tools, one for test kit - MFT and the like.

The first CK burst on one of the zip seams after I over stuffed it. A tip: I fixed it better than new using 12 lb fishing line and big fat 'King Cole' repair needles.
