The key word as always is competence-are you competent to install and certificate your own work?

2391-10 will go a long way towards proving competence but it's not an exclusive thing, experience and 236/2360/2330 etc. along with 2382-10 or 20 all go into the 'competence pot'.

If you join up with nic etc they normally give you a period of time before you have to get the 2391 or 2392,you dont legally have to have 2391 to test & inspect but it proves competence on paper.

There is no such requirement for 2391-10 from NICEIC or ELECSA and in any event, 2391-10 does not prove competence, it will ASSIST in proving competence to test & inspect.

"3. Competence to inspect, test and certificate
Applicants holding a Certificate of Competence to ISO
17024 will have met this requirement. Other applicants
must obtain a certificate covering the requirements for
inspecting, testing and certificating electrical
installations. This must be held prior to registration or
obtained within 12 months of a successful on-site
assessment. Acceptable certificates include C&G2391,
C&G2400 or equivalent."

I don't think that's from NICEIC or ELECSA is it?

hi chaps
thanks for all your replies.
as i would be doing commercial and domestic will nic, elecsa and napit cover both of these works.
i take it once you pass the assesment you can then certify.
i was led to believe you had to be trading for a period of time before you could certify with nic??
