evening,

got a job to install power into wooden shed approx 5m from house... there is blank plate with 2.5 t+e in labeled garage at mains but not being used.

was going to fit metal conduit box outside to gland swa off then run to metal clad socket and spur for lights.

im changing cu in house too, was going to fit high integrity board with garage circuit fed from rcbo due to 2.5 t+e to blank plate being in the wall.

tnc-s

no services in shed

best way to do it........ just doubting as dont do much outside stuff.

customer wants it cheap as poss but obviously want to do it correctly

thanks jonathan

Then he should get a qualified spark in who knows how to carry the work out in compliance with building regulations.
I hope your not offended by my reply.

It's early but I can't get to grips with the third paragraph, can you explain your reasoning?

I was reported last night. I'm still waiting to hear from the mods (once they've finished laughing)

I think i know the thread you mean you should report him, he was a Di@k

when you say buried in wall, do you mean under the plaster < 50mm deep, or just through the wall?

My reasoning was to keep garage separate and to feed from rcbo at cu which is needed as wire buried in wall.

But you mentioned a "high integrity board" I assumed that you meant that you had a 17th edition CU witch would have 2 RCDs eliminating the need for an RCBO, or have I misread your thread?

think he means to fit RCBO to the non-RCD section of the CU so as to keep the shed supply independent of the house RCDs.

Don't let customer cost influence you too greatly, they will all want cheap as poss. It is what it is at end of the day. All sounds ok what you are doing. If the 2.5mm from the house is not chased into walls then an even better job would be non-rcd protected MCB at house DB and RCD main switch at your new shed sub DB. That way should the RCD operate due to an earth fault in shed then it can be operated locally and save a trek back to house.

2.5 is chased in...

Reason for rcbo is so it doesn't interfere with house.

this garage supply is already in right place to hook to shed, getting armoured from cu is a bit of a nightmare hence not going mcb non protected etc.

Was saving cost by not going for another board and stake ... Ideally. Rcd would be in shed For localised tripping but wanted to use existing feed near by but that cable needs protecting hence needing it fed from rcbo.

Hope that make sense. Lol
