A guy wants me to get him a power supply into his shed. Shed will have relativly small load. A light and a socket inside. Does this plan of attack i have sound ok. Have a 13a fcu spurred off down stairs ring (rcd protected ring). Back entry out of fcu to a galv end box. Use 4mm 3 core SWA burried under walkway (about 5m run) into shed and connect into another fcu 5 amp for the light and connect socket to supply side of fcu. This is by far the cheapest option to putting in a new circuit and board etc. Thanks Robo

Just to lob a spanner into the works, i cant see why a galv end box cant be used to terminate the gland and then take the 3 cores through the wall to the back of the FCU.

You could always fill the box with resin before putting the lid on.

Thanks for the advise. Or i suppose i could use an weatherproof fcu on the outside wall and this would save chopping out for a box.Less messy. Yer will use 2.5mm. Is depth 600mm and marking tape about 300mm? Seems pretty deep to me.

Cheers for advise, think i will go for weatherproof fcu also to cut down on internal mess.

Is it ok to have the L N cpc conductors just drilled through the wall as these will only b single insulated?? or do i have to put conduit in the wall?? Robo

Just seems a bit easier to use a weather proof box! the connections would also be easily accessable whereas if you filled a galv end box with resin you'd have a problem getting to the connections.:)

Not if you take the cores with sheath through into the back of the FCU.;)

The resin is purely filling the hole and making the entry into the building water proof.

Plus, an adaptable box is easier to damage.

All IMHO of course :)

Oh ok I see, I like the sound of that! A much cheaper option too....!:D A spanner in works indeed..... I like the idea lot but would probably still fit a waterproof enclosure, don't trust my resining skills
