Shoddy technical helpline question!

Just read as below in the NAPIT quarterly.
I mean, come on, what a ridiculous question, and one I am astounded gets asked a lot... Surely it takes approx one second to realise the utter futility of rodding an extraneous part in such a manner...and then people still ring up!! Bonkers!

I Have had a property maintenance company inform me they had checked and the bonding to the gas was fine and I arrive to find an earth rod just beside the gas meter.

Its indicative of the low standards of basic electrical knowledge that is now very common
It has now unfortunately become an acceptable standard to registration with the schemes

This does seem to be the way of things now, I haven't a clue, I know let's ring the helpline. What did we do before they existed, oh yes we were informed enough not to need them.

I hear you, and questions do need to be asked to develop and learn. But this is pretty basic knowledge and for scheme members to be asking this is insane! If I was the editor of the quarterly I would be saying we can't put that remark (about being asked often) in, it casts a pretty bad light!
