Hi ereryone in advance.

I've been called to a shop in a petrol station on Saturday, it is a job referral from a trades friend, he told me that the council had had the electrical supply cut off, due to no certification and that the power was running on a generator at the moment, as the petrol station is a high explosive location with flammable material and fluids onsite, I know bs7671 have limitations regards petrol station, "has any one worked on petrol stations shops" if so what are the issues regarding certification and regulation.

Appreciate all replies, ukpia card info:

Are you saying that the DNO has left this petrol station, in a less safe state than it was before the disconnection of supply?? That doesn't make any sense at all!! Must be more too it than that!!

Hi mate my firm are the main contractors for bp oil on the petrol stations, first thing you need is your ukpia spa card, otherwise legally you can't walk on to site, the eicr's are carried out yearly and the petrol station regs (apea) are massively stringent, my advice would be get on to apea and take it from there they could give you all the info you need, I know that building control will shut down any bp site if they don't have hot water for 3 days ( so they say ) but good luck mate

If they've been cut off due to Certification issues then they should be closed.
Running from a generator doesn't make it compliant.

The L.A Petroleum Officer would have shut them down if they were found to be trading, somethings not right with this story.

If you have to ask about the situation, you don't have either the knowledge or experience to deal with this one, walk away.

As a minimum you need SPA and the APEA Blue Book

.

Let's hope this petrol station has plenty of spare space to locate a generator safely!! And that the generator itself conforms with hazardous surroundings!! lol!! Not all generators are suitable for all conditions!!

Not having had any dealings with petrol stations, but taking a mining stance in this regard

The post mentions the adjacent shop
Is it not just the equipment in,and the vicinity of the hazardous area (the pumps) that are a special location, the shop being general rules ?

Pretty much mate every site is a tt, with double pole vigi units/rcbos used in all boards, unable to take a zs reading apart from a designated test socket, thats about it. we've taken on this contract back in the end of 2011 and were still rectifying faults from the previous regime, the stuff I've seen would amaze you next time Ill post a few pics.
compex 07/08 is a must as we service a lot of the dispensers too.

Don't know, only going to see what they want, and as I don't have the spa or apea blue book, will have to tell them that to start with. Might get a full tank of fuel for turning up. LOL
