How do you work out the overcurrent devices short circuit capacity in KA, i thought it was just written on it, if you can't find it what do you do then?

HELP!!!!!!!!!

I don't mate but i think rule of thumb on a relatively new switch is 16ka, is that the right assumption?

I don't think i explained it that well mate, i'm talking about the main switch for the consumer unit, the value is needed for the cert thats all.

usually printed on ,there are guide tables in the osg for circuit protective devices other than that its time to consult the manufacturer,
can someone add a virus to sparky yorks avatar?:D

it is a bit bright,i was looking at it just and i could feel it sucking my eyeballs out of me head, aaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

ha he im trying to create one with a nice electrical arc in it at the mo!! sure its hypnotic!!

not come accross that one before, its not an protective device is it? if it s just an isolator, why would you need the short circuit capacity?

Shakey need your hekp on this, just got kewtech schedule of test results, the cert you fill in all the test results on, and ther is a box with "overcurrent device short circuit capacity" in KA. I was told this was the capacity of the main switch of the cu, is this right? If not what does it mean. Thanks.

aahhh, i can see now

like i said the main switch is not a protective device

the overcurrent protective device for the installation is the suppliers fuse (often a 1361), they quite often have the Ka value written on them;)
