Hi guy,

In coming sep classes are starting for C&G 2330. So before getting admission I would like to ask you coz its better to ask someone before making any decision. should i study this course? I mean will it benefit me in my future. will i get a job somewhere? I am thinking if i don`t get job in UK so at least in other country like middle east, Canada or Australia. I ll be 30 in coming July.
what do u think???

thxx.

It is a start! No course guarantees a job or no one will be out of work! Have you considered the combined 2357? Are you generally interested in Electrical or just means to an end! This job is love, hate but a great vocation if your heart is there!!! As for Australia, the 2330 will not get you anywhere near the ATRC, you need at least an apprenticeship of four years or similar with 7 year of varying industry experience, can't speak for Canada though!! Hope this helps!! As for age, never too old to do anything if truly desire it :)

Re: Should i do c&g 2330??

Try 2330 part 2 and 3, 2391, 2381, NVQ etc etc but do believe they are stopping all of those apart from the 17th. Now 2357, 2394 and 5, so many numbers hard to keep up!

thanks MKs, I only know to do CG 2330 L2 & L3. so could you plz tell me step by step what will i have to do after finishing 2330 L3. isn`t 2330 L3 enough to work as an spark with someone?

The 2330 L2 & L3 is presently the ''core'' qualification for an electrician, which is soon to be replaced by 2357 which i believe is a combined qualification taking in 2391 among others.... I would go for the newer C&G 2357 as it will give you a far broader core basis than the present 2330 alone!!...

I should warn you that having any electrical qualifications will by no means garantee you a job, to be honest, without experience your chances of getting a job will be slim. There are probably thousands of people in the uk nowadays with electrical qualifications who cant get work in the electrical industry. You have done the right thing researching it first. If I were you I wouldn't commit to a course unltil I had found a company/person willing to employ me.

You will be hardly any more use as an electricians mate with the 2330 than you would be without it.

I know what electricians mate i would employ, if i had the choice between one with his full 2330 and one that didn't have anything to his name!! So i don't particularly agree with that statement!!

Apart from anything else, that's not exactly giving out the right sort of advise if were so against the 17 day and Electrical Trainee.

Though I do agree with you, that a full 2330 qualification won't guarantee the holder a job

I would probably rather employ a mate with no quals than with the 2330. I do domestic work and would want someone who knows how to chase walls, pull floorboards up, run t&E round lofts and 2nd fix sockets. If they needed to know what cable to run for a power shower, they ring me. I would not need my mate to be able to do power factor correction calculations or explain the internal workings of a 3 phase motor.
No qualifications means I can pay him less, make more profit and don't have to worry about him buggering off to work for somone else/himself or stealing my clients.

Now, of course you and I work in entirely different fields so the difference of opinion is relative to this. Im sure the 2330 would be far more useful to someone doing the kind of work you do.

What I was getting at was that college does not teach you how to do the job, it teaches you how to do the sums.

And I've never claimed to be against the 17 day or Electrical Trainee. Infact you have accused me of being one on several occasions due to my refusal to condemn them.

What you have described here has nothing to do with an electricians mate, your describing nothing more than a labourer end of!!

Unless things have changed, there was also a practical skills module within the 2330. But it seems that your not interested in slightest, teaching an electricians mate to gain the experience he needs, ....all your after is someone to lift boards and chase walls while your off doing something else!!

What, some retard from the Jobcentre who doesn't give a ...
Someone who's good at the 1st red bit might expect more than min wage, not much chance I know, but he'll be out of the door faster than light when he gets a better offer.

If you get a young college trainee you can pay him p!ss poor apprentice rates and he might actually be interested in the job.

I am running a business to make a profit. I am not a training organisation. Regardless of this, what they learn with me will be experience that you can not buy. Getting qualifications at a later stage will not be a problem for said guy.
Yes the 2330 has a practical module but the part of it that is relevant to domestic work, I could teach someone in 10 minutes.

Your arguments tend to get more and more ludicrous the longer they go on. You are completely incapable of seeing something from any point of view other than your own, and you tend to imply that anyone who disagrees with you, on any matter, no matter how trivial, must be a complete idiot. You excessivley use exclamation marks to demonstrate that your opinion is the only one that matters and resort to repeteaded 'lols' in a rather childish attempt to ridicule people.

The phrase 'beating them down to your level and beating them with experience' springs to mind.

Haha!!! You sure you know what your talking about?? I can disagree with anyone i want too, the same as you and everyone else here can. The difference being, those that can't go any further in a disagreement, without resorting to getting childishly personal.

My argument with you is certainly NOT ludicrous... Mates and Labourers are two completely different animals, one is trying to gain experience, the other is there soley to undertake menial work. Seeing as you clearly only want someone to do the menial work, you would have no need, or interest in an electricians mate!! Your certainly not going to teach them much...

As far as i'm aware, Domestic is about all they learn at collage these days, ...but regardless, i doubt very much if you could teach anyone anything in 10 minutes. Now just because you don't consider qualifications as being important to an electrician, other more sensible people DO!! Probably because you don't have too many yourself, being a Electrical Trainee.

I'm a lot of things, but i can assure you, i'm no idiot nor am i anybodies fool!! As for being Trivial, ...well that depends, what's trivial to you, isn't always trivial to others...

Anyway, i really can't be arsed continuing this with you.., your only going to upset yourself further, and for what??

Well he does have a point Eng54 , alot of your posts take a condescending tone to others that dont share your opinion.
And comments such as " Your certainly not going to teach them much..." doesnt exactly make you look big or clever either.
Throwing stones in glass houses comes to mind.
