Hi guys , not been around for awhile so forgive my lack of input of recent. wanted to run this by for opinions.
After searching out a fair few threads here and kinda got mixed thoughts, so wanted to pose this Q

Upgrading CU to dual RCd. Domestic Property. Problem is downstairs lighting circuit is old, good condition just no CPC. in PVC cable
T&E without the E.
Question is should this circuit not be connected OR just X the box for "Presence ofcircuit protection conductors" ?
[FONT=Calibri, sans-serif]And then note on observations on existing circuit.

I have read in previous threads that some say there should not be an X on a EIC .

Cheers Spin. Its strange cos i remember my assessment the guy asked me about a note. basically had a very low ready on a IR test. like below 1. was noted for further invest. and he was totally cool with that. In your opinion would that be considered a defect? Im thinking yes, because as we know its noted that anything below 1.5 should be checked out.
And really this could be detrimental to the safety of the installation.

Robinson,
You should have really checked the ESC BPG on CU changes first so you are familiar with what is regarded as acceptable by the "governing bodies" of the industry.

Sure and i have read. But in the BPG it only says the cert should state the non compliances, does not mention whether i should put a X in the box or not.

i would agree with pauls first post - you are only responsible for the CU change and comment on the existing circuits. i think the proper answer is no to putting the x in the box, but to be fair i would just to make sure it is well highlighted. Of course you will aready be commenting on the fact that there is no CPC on the circuit in the EIC but you also need to affix a label to the board to make sure no one adds metal light fittings or switches!

Thanks SC . yeah need to get myself some of those stickers.. So out of interest would it be a N/A or tick as that you have connected some cpc's ?

Cheers guys

I had the same a few weeks back, I rewired the circuit but i was lucky was floor boards thru-out the place and easy to lift..
Putting a sticker saying noting no CPC and tattoo it over everything, You ll get the blame by default cos you changed the board be that right or wrong..
If you marked it up and made customer aware id say you ll be on the safe side of things...
