Shower cable selection (Regs)

Hi guys
I've been working on a site and I've had a problem with the site agent and his QS both are convinced that in the regs there is a rule suggesting that ALL showers MUST be wired in 10mm minimum. Whilst I appreciate that it is generally accepted that 10mm is a rule of thumb . I also was only aware of the reg relating to sufficient current carrying capacity and not a reg specifying what size cable to use.
I've checked my current on site guide and I can't find a reg that specifies 10mm t&e minimum for ALL showers please tell me in not loosing the plot

Best to ask the site agent and QS to supply you with the relevant regulation number ...................... and then you can direct them to section 523 and appendix 4 of the regs that actually does cover it.

i agree with you. 6mm is adequate up to 9.5kw. the only reason 10mm was specified in the 16th fo over 8kw was volt drop.
