Hi people,a theoretical question for you,if you was called to a house to fit a shower circuit & there was an old fusebox still in (re-wirable),after advising of updating this to a 17th edition cu,where would you stand with the regulations in fitting the shower circuit if they didn't want the cu changing at the minute(cost). Can you still go ahead by splitting the tails with a henley into a seperate small cu with a 30ma RCD so they can still have the shower circuit done (obviously the correct materials have been used & circuit tested after installation.Would i be right in saying this is the best way to go considering the situation
thanks in advance,jason:)

I have fitted a seperate supply unit with a 30ma rcd many times splitting the tails its not ideal but its all down to cost i suppose at the moment as long as ur earthing and bonding are good and you test the new circuit ull be ok

As long as the gas/water bonding is done and if installed within a bathroom etc that the regs are adhered to for a special installation and a additional note on the completion cert' about the existing installation may be best to cover your back, even if its just to say you recommend a inspection be carried out due to its obvious age just for safety reasons.
