Afternnon chaps! Just a quick one if anybody can chip in please?...

Have been asked to fit a shower into a Barbers shop. I've had a quick look where she wants it siting, but am not 100% on how the zoning works as per the Regs. I don't have a fixed basin or partition etc. It is for a shower unit only above a sink basin for washing hair (obviously!). Everything in the shop is Surface in Mini Trunking. I'd have to run 6mm (need to confirm this, but that's what she's got atm) from the board to an isolator & also upgrade bonding to incoming water.

Current board is 16th ed, no RCD. I cannot for the life of me find anything from Part 4/5 as to RCD protection requirements with surface mounting?

There is also a light switch within 1 metre tops from where the waste outlet is. As for zones, would I treat this as per regs and ensure that the Isolator and any switches are not near the shower outlet? The current shower position has the 45A Isolator sited right next to the shower unit...

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Fig 701.1 (e) gives zone dimensions for showers without basins but with a water outlet, which I would use, taking the outlet of the sink basin as the outlet.
You should provide RCD protection to the shower circuit...(no requirement for surface wiring but new circuits in a shower room will require RCD protection)...but as presumably all circuits within the location will not have RCD protection you will also have to provide supplementary bonding as per 701.415.2.
