Hi all would like to know im in process of training to hopefully be registered in the near future have a friend who has asked can i replace his shower as the current one has gone wrong.I know im not registered yet and this comes under a special location so im not sure where i stand. It has currently rcd protection and is a 10.5kw wants replacing with the same or will i have to tell him to use a registered person if so what sort of price will he be paying many thanks in advance:confused:

Dont ever say that, especially if you have never replaced an electric shower before.

Personally, i would charge around ÂŁ50, but i would want to see the job first.

Others prices may and probably will differ.

At the end of the day, its only you that can decide what you want for doing the job :)

Hi ive only quickly today been to see job pipework needs altering to fit new shower also wylex board thats installed doesnt have rcd protection:eek: as this is now a requirement.I was mis informed only has 45Amcb and its the cartridge type could this be changed for a rcbo or seperate rcd or as i told him may need new board which i cannot install at present many thanks in advance

Don't think i have ever done a job that was as straight forward as i initially thought. There's always something to slow you down even if it's is just the tool fairy hiding your kit

yes i agree any ideas with regard to the rcbo or rcd protection could i place a seperate rcd next to cu to protect shower or is this notifiable if so will inform him to use registered person many thanks:confused:

Your hand will be forced with regard to fitting an RCD. Not only is it a requirement of Part P etc etc, it will also state in the manufacturers instructions that the shower must be protected with a RCD.

As you are altering the circuit and working in a special location it is notifiable work.

Enjoy,

My last shower swap including fitting Shower Cu took 3 hours longer than i had priced for......you win some and you lose some i suppose.

Cheers...................Howard
