Sick of Agencies

I've been out of work since the beginning of Jan, applied for as many jobs as I possibly can through the Internet and phone. It's just Agencies... I swear to god they advertise fake jobs just so you sign up on their registers?

is this a common thing or what?

i know how you feel i been out of work since middle of december and applyed for loads of jobs which every one of them was a agency, one that i applied for was through a agency that was 35 miles away from my house and they asked me to go into the office to register with them for the job so i did got up early got on the train and went there spent about a hour filling forms out and giving them my certificates and references (which they rang while i was there) and after that i got a interview at the end of it they said "well you are the best candidate that has applied as soon as we find out if we have the contract to provide the agency work we will ring you" i was shocked to hear that but didnt say any thing went home on a train and after about a week i hadnt heared any thing so i rang the agency upand ythey said they "did not get the contract so there was no work sorry" that really ****ed me off i hate agencys but they are the only jobs out there for a sparks mate/labourer

Same i've been applying for mate work through agencies, i'm convinced they just make up jobs to get your details an keep there books full..i wonder if i'll ever get a start..trying to complete my NVQ..currently i'm stuck PAT testing to pay the bills...i hope it picks up soon, it can only get better...

What's the minimum requirements for a PAT tester then?

Most firms want you to have City and guilds 2377,its an open book exam..very straight forward!! oh an you need alot of patience as its mind-numbingly boring,lol

Geez, this paints a pretty bleak picture. What type of jobs are you applying for through these agencies?

Electrical Mates jobs. nothing else

I assume that's basically a labourer/tea boy. No disrespect intended.

I only apply for industrial electrical mates jobs. no tea making included in those.
