signing off domestic works (part p)

hi all, ive been working with electrics for 11-12 yrs now mostly rewires and ive been asked to get what ever it is i need to give a certificate for domestic installs. i currently have my city and guilds 2330 and im in the process of doing my nvq3 (log book).

so what do i need in order to get my part p?

i know i need a 17th edition.

you dont need part p.

you become part p registered when you sign up to say niceic,elecsa,napit etc.

part p is only one of the building regs you need to comply to and its only for new builds really.

to get classed as approved you need

2330equivalent tech cert
17th edition
nvq
testing and inspection either 2391 or 2394/2395

Part P has been around for 10 years and people in the trade still think it's a qualification.....staggering.

Consumer unit replacements, new circuits and installation works in a bathroom would also be notifiable works in existing dwellings.

no, but they keep phoning me to join them. all these scams are much of a muchness, but elecsa seem to be the most friendly.

Stroma are the cheapest and they aren't attached to the NIC in any way so that's 2 points in their favour!

That their new rules to try and stem the tide of unqualified (in all truth) 5wws?

If so, then I can't see it being long before they/crap "training" providers start fannying around and create their own nvq.

I think some of the schemes already offer some competency test to get round it.

ive been to nappit hq.

they will call you if they dont like the look of your certs etc.

i know ive overheard them, ok dave we have this every time can you send the proper test results lol
