Hi all, have s simple electronic problem that i could do with help for a solution to.

Basically we have a disabled refuge system which is a C-Tec sigtel sytem. It is also linked to the disabled toilet alarms. The alarms used do not have a built in relay as shown in the instructions so we have used the stand alone relays to go with each system. The problem we have is that we have a situation where we have two disabled toilets next to each other and they both have a sepperate system installed in each toilet. We have the issue that we have no spare channels in the system to indicate each individual toilet on the panel. As they are both next to each other we proposed to join the two outputs together and indicate this in the panel text.

The electronic problem i am struggling with is the system has a EOL and a trigger resistor installed. I may be being blonde here , but i cant think how to connect them together so that whichever one is activated will trigger the sytem and not create a short circuit.

The below is the link to the instructions. P18 has a diagram of what i am struggling with

I would be grateful if any of you could have a look for me and come up with a solution to this simple problem.

Thanks in advance

Nick

No means an expert as I have never worked on systems like this...... But would it not be the case the EOL is on the point furthest from the board? Like when you use them on fire detectors. Other wise it is not an End Of Line resistor (EOL). Thus based on that would you not just link your two toilets together in series...?

Like I said I am no expert, I would phone the Sigtel guys to discuss this with them! Lol.

Common up the N-O, C, N-C arcross both units BUT only use 1 pair of 1.5k resistors.

The system is looking for 1.5k (eol) normally for a System healthy signal, then 2 x 1.5k in parallel to give the trigger.

The local indicators should still flash / sound separately for each W.C as they are different outputs.

I agree with snowhead wire in paralell use 1.5K across the normally closed of each relay and one 1.5 K across L In + and L In - of the last relay The only problem with this is that if both relays are operated together you will send a signal of 0.5K ( 3 x 1.5k Resistors)to the panel and not sure if this will show up a fault

Hi Richard, thanks for your comment. The relay is rated 12A peak. It's also worth noting that a relay contact will perform differently depending...
