what do you think are the simple mistakes you make ?

Could be doing the work or costing etc

simple one i made once was on a CU change. ripped out old board, did all my dead tests, installed new board and powered up. then got a belt off the neutral bar. the new board was configured with the incomer terminals opposite way round, i.e, main switch L on opposite side to the MCBs. simple mistake but could have had serious consequences. my next test was going to be polarity anyway.

Underestimating time for me. I also sometimes run over on what I spend on parts, its all a learning curve I suppose, and if nobody made mistakes then there wouldn't be rubbers on the end of pencils :)

was an east mistake to make. normally, the main switch L is on the left, adjacent to no.1 MCB. this bugger was the other way round, with the L busbar cranked behind the N terminal.

me

1: As I work in some seriously antiqued out places. Moving and covering things. This can take a long time. Then it all has to be put back. I take pics first to note positions and condition.

2. Cleaning up .Takes a lot longer than we all imagine !

3. Time mucking about getting materials .

These are my main mistakes.

But i learned that even if it costs me time and money, i never like to go "blind" I want to see the job first. Tomorrow i am visiting a site to check out some Antique lights that need to be fitted . The value of the lamps and the Designer i am working for let alone the client means it has to go like a swiss watch ! Unless its a emergency call out... I prefer to go "Lookie lookie"

for me its chasing around wasting time to try and save a few pennies on the materials to help teh customer and provide a good service etc,, problem is it often takes longer to prepare the shopping list then it does to do the actual job!
