Hi,

Quick question,
Where i work they are building a new building out the back, its a fairly big building and we are having to supplies from 2 different sub stations, whilst talking to a friend at work we where talking about what the HV supply (11KV) would be in terms of cable, do they use a sigle core and turn that into 3 phase? or is it a 3 phase cable to start with?

Thanks

Shawn

Not sure how you would turn a single core cable into 3 phase ................

But you could run 3 single core cables or a multi-core cable. Normally if the design load is high enough to warrent a cable CSA of say 240mm then often this would be done in 3 singles, purely for weight.

My local DNO have just renewed the HV supplies to the 3 TX at my local hospital.

For what ever reason one was a multicore and the other two were singles in trefoil.

Cant help but feel they get it a bit easy when you look at what they supply the TX in and what I have to use from the TX to the MSP.....aint HV great!:D
