Another take on the 'spur from spur' questions. I'm in the middle of having an installation done and my contractor has taken a spur for a single FCU (for a cooker hood) from an existing spur (double socket).

From the distant days when I used to do my own simple electrical work I thought spurs from spurs weren't allowed so I questioned it. My contractor told me that since the second spur is fused this is ok. Something else my contractor has done made me check their work out a bit more and it sounds like spurs from spurs are only allowed when there is a FCU between the ring and the first spur and then you can (kinda) spur away to your heart's content?

Grateful for your views on this one.

you are correct spurs from spurs are only allowed when fcu is at 1st point, unless of course its on a 16a/20a radial.

p.s see appendix 15 of brb should help you out!

I really can't see a problem with it assuming there is a neutral there.
