Am replacing a faulty dimmer. Have put live in C, the blue in L1 and earthed green - doesnt work. It looks like my old dimmer had live and blue in L1 and L2 but I should have taken a picture. Is that even possible? I can try that of course or is it more likely that the connection wire isnt in firmly enough or even a faulty dimmer (is brand new). Thanks for any help.
 
Can you show the new dimmer connections and the wiring.

Yes one wire nut will grab a wire but I will suggest an orange one because the wire is 14 gage wire for lighting.
