Single phase motor help

Help!
I have purchased an old Wadkin 3 phase table saw ( 2HP ) and I want to change it to single phase.
Is there any particular motor I should be looking for?

I have a dedicated feed from consumer unit ( 6mm cable ) going to an isolator switch.

What size flex cable do I need from isolator to motor?

And what size fuse should I use at consumer unit?

Do I need to change the switch on the machine or can I use the old one?

Can any one shed some light I would be most gratefull

If the existing 3 phase motor is working, wouldnt you be better off buying an inverter and powering it from that?

Hi mate, As long as you get a motor with the same shaft diameter, same keyway type, similar shaft length (slightly longer is usually o.k. and similar speed rating you should be O.K. !!
You can redrill mounts etc. if you have to.
I would look at a 3hp single phase motor to replace a 2hp 3phase as they are not really as torqey.
As for cable size you would need to look at the motors plate to find out its amp rating as hp does not equate properly! (some old 1/2 horse motors use 4 amps or more although if you do a calculation they should only use about 1.5amps)
Even with a 3hp motor 2.5 flex would probably be o.k. but like I say when you have found your motor just double check its rating!

good luck
