Hands up out of my depth here as as I don't do commercial or Industrial..
I was speaking to my mechanic today who asked me to wire in a single Phase to three Phase converter for his car ramp ? I declined as I don't believe I am competent in that area but how do wire them up ?..
I came across a Transwave Convverter on a bandsaw once.Just single phase in and three come out.Don't try connecting a phase rotation indicator to it though,I found out too late it has nasty spikes on the waveform and it fried mine.
Quite common where industrial machines need a three phase supply, and when spec'd for a job in particular where you know what the likely out put are going to be then not to difficult.
I've fitted a few and in my limited experience the problems I have found are generally to do with the settings of the inverter it's self rather than the electrical installation. They have lots of different out put settings, but generally you take a suitable sized supply of a single phase to the inverter and then a suitable sized three phase out. A bit like a 110v transformer only you get three phases out instead of one.
you can get inverters with 230v 1ph in and 230v 3ph out, you will need to check the car ramp motor is a dual voltage type and will need to wire it up accordingley.
how ever you can get inverters 230v 1ph to 400v 3ph.
I need to make a rotory inverter to run a lathe i have just bought, it seems you feed single phase across 2 of the winding of a 3 phase motor, you then have to spin the motor up and it generates a 3rd phase on the non powered coil, Mine is a bit more complicated as i need a neutral as well and the 3 phase needs to be 440v, I do not want to hack the lathe about and fit single phase so a converter is the only option i have, if any one has any experience of this i would be greatful of any assistace you can offer.
