This might be a stupid question, but I've never really thought about it before so thought I'd ask anyway...

Does anyone ever consider the sizing of manufacturers leads within a consumer unit?

Working on a bog standard domestic installation with a 100A cut-out fuse and 25mm tails. No problem there, but once you get inside the DB, the manufacturer has provided short 10mm singles to connect between the main switch and the RCDs/neutral bars.

Seeing as 10mm singles can carry a max of 65A, they're not adequately protected for that 30cm run within unit.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

They are designed and built for purpose, I'd be surprised if they have the correct BSEN number, yet nobody has thought of the correct size.
plus they are not exactly the same conductor as your 10mm Singles

tri rated tails in CU , carry a lot more current than 7 strand, as in external tails. also, the load is spread between 2 pairs of tails, 1 to each RCD.
