Thank you for reading..........

Once again, I have received an email from Sky who are threatening to increase our multi-room subscriptions.

We are in 'violation' of our contract because they've been unable to perform automatic call backs to/from each of our sky boxes. This issue rears its head every couple of months and is temporarily solved when I force manual callbacks from each one.

I've fired off a quick email (below), but does anyone have similar experiences or have a way to solve this issue as it's really ****ing me off. Are there any Sky engineers on this forum? Thanks.

Email to Sky:-

Thank you for your email dated today.

These repeated multi-room violation issues are becoming extremely tedious.

Let me state this very clearly, and for the very last time.........ALL OF OUR SKY BOXES REMAIN CONNECTED TO OUR OPERATIONAL PHONE LINE AT ALL TIMES..............THEY ARE NEVER DISCONNECTED...........EVER.

The call back function clearly works as we've had success with previous manual callbacks. Please see attached email from Sky, dated 29th September 2013 in this regard.

The failure of automatic callbacks must, therefore, be due to the sky boxes software or the phone line (sky talk) to which they are attached.

Please refrain from threatening increased monthly subscriptions and instead focus your efforts on diligent fault finding to resolve this unsatisfactory situation once and for all.

Regards,

I cancelled my sky months ago over 90% of tv is free to view anyway they charge you for HD when its free on most channels on any viewing box and i hate sport so ive been saving a mint.... they rang me with loads of exclusive great deals if i come back i said 'its a shame as a 10yrs loyal customer you couldn't reward that loyalty while i was a member' so on that note i put the phone down.
Sorry i can't help but IMHO its an overated very expensive service for little reward.

I wouldn't bother either TBH unless you really need 2 sky boxes.
The previous owner of my house had multi room and I couldn't be arsed paying for a second Sky box so just put a standard free sat HD box upstairs using the second connection.

Yes, dont I know it! Already paying approx ÂŁ110 pm (1 x HD box, 2 x sky multi-room and sky talk). Now trying to have me over for an extra ÂŁ65 pm for breaking the multi-room contract terms (even though I have not).

I do like the sports coverage though. Guess i'll just have to wait until a better option becomes available. Virgin possibly.

Cheers

Mmmmmmm. I'll research that. The two kids each have a sky plus box. Maybe I can ditch those in favour of a free to air equivalent. We can keep Sky HD box in lounge.

Thanks

So nearly ÂŁ1900 before tax of your income on Sky - you must be mad.

BBC, ITV etc for us!

If i didn't like discovery channel/ history channel etc so much i'd ditch sky too, they're scum! They phoned up offering great deals so when i asked about a new sky box as mine is an old sky plus box they said " certainly sir thats ÂŁ299 plus ÂŁ60 installation!" when i pointed out they were advertised free for new customers they said it was to get the new business and i'd already had a good deal when i joined!so basically my loyalty means nothing!

I'm paying ÂŁ94.00 a month with sky, I have 2 HD boxes in total and multiroom, also have the broadband, talk talk and phone rental, I like the on demand bit otherwise tv is just total Cr&p really these days

Checkout the new freeview sky ÂŁ9.99 box - I believe you pay like other free views for the little box one off and then its free sat- but I believe you can add the odd subscribed channels ppm, if this is the case your not paying all the silly amounts as well.

You said it yourself if it wasn't for discovery you would go.... how about stripping down your subscription to discovery only, you still pay basic fee plus discovery and i bet you still see change from ÂŁ220 a month.... and trust me they will be sending you all the super deals etc to entice you back... as I said before you actually be surprised how much free viewing you watch and the ÂŁ100 a month is probably accounting for less than 15% of your viewing.

I have one Sky HD box in the house and this is piped to every room via an HDMI splitter, we pay about 40 quid per month for TV, phone line and broadband. Only drawback is we can only watch one channel at a time, but I wouldn't pay for multiroom. Sky will charge for everything, I object to paying for the HD channels, after all it doesn't make the programs any better!

We did have a similar set up. One HD box in lounge, piped to three bedrooms, main bedroom has magic eye for remote control of lounge box.

Like you say, this restricts to watching just one channel at a time. Kids forever arguing about that. Hence the multi-room subscription.
