Hey all, I know this isn't an electrical question but I have seen a few people on here give some good advice regarding av related questions so thought I would give it a shot. Thanks in advance for your time =0)

In my house it looks like there was provision for Sky Multiroom. There is a white coax that comes out of the top of the Sky Dish which runs alongside the 2 black cables that go into my Sky box downstairs. This white coax looks like it is running into a tv and fm faceplate by the main Sky downstairs as I cannot find anywhere else these cables go to. Plugging in at that outlet I get a crystal clear signal on my tv. There is another coax which runs round the outside of the house into the bedroom and next to the terminated coax there is a phone socket.

I do not want to shell out for Sky Multiroom but I just want to gain use of this coax so I can at least get the freeview working on my tv but to no avail as the end of the cable in the bedroom is a male coax connector. Have tried to use a coax to aerial connector adaptor but again, no signal on my tv.

I am extremely confused, if anyone could help I would be extremely greatful.:)

hi rather than work out what you have got this is what i know

2 cables from dish into sky+ box
1 cable from ariel to sky + box
1 cable from rf1 on sky+ box to lounge tv
1cable from rf2 on sky+ box to bed room tv

this gives sky and tv( inc free view if your ariel is good enough) to both tvs
you just need magic eye to control bedroom tv

my rf2 goes to the loft first into a distribution amp then out to 3 times to other tvs you need to do this to enable sky on all these tvs as un amped rf2 only does 1 tv

This is what i have used in the past.Oppurtunities for extra boxes/freeview and normal TV.
Triax*-*United Kingdom

That would not work in this case as the LNB would need to be changed along with a few other bits mate.

The cable that is ran into the bedroom maybe a link, try plugging the this cable into the RF2 on the sky box. Also make sure that the TV aerial is plugged into the sky receiver.

Have a quick look how many cables come off the LNB, you will then know if it is a multiroom cale, i dont think it is as i would be terminated with a F connector.

Hi

It looks like you only have a dual LNB ( 2 cables from dish)
The other white cable is from an aerial ???
and the other cable that is going round the building is as stated a slave connection

Option 1
You can put it into Rf2 on your sky receiver then you can plug the other end of this cable into the tv in your bedroom and watch sky ( but you will have to search for the signal) ie tune in your bedroom tv to catch the rf2 signal which is an analogue signal then you can fit a magic eye in the bedroom that will allow you to change your sky channels
But this is not classed as multi-room

Option 2
If you only want to watch the terrestial (aerial) signal in the bedroom so you can get your freeview you will have to connect the white cable (aerial) (assuming) to the other cable that is running round the house to the bedroom this will give you the crystal clear picture to your bedroom assuming the cable is not burst anywhere?? But you will not be able to watch sky this way

Dont touch the 2 cables from your dish they go into the rear of your receiver and are marked LNB1 LNB2

Interesting as other have said it may well be a Coax link for feeding RF2 to bedroom so you can watch sky+ in the bedroom if Aerail goes into Sky+ you will also get aerial for Analogue and freeview (signal dependant) you can either patch aerial from plate to other cable direc tor go via sky (this is better) For multiroom you would have multiple feeds from dish to different rooms where does the coax that runs to bedroom come from? Have a look in your loft you may find a few coax cables untermineted or in a Distribution AMP some Small amps are pwoered from sky RF2 so you need the link to power the AMP (services, 4, 0, 1, select in that exact order on sky+ remote to turn RF2 power on)

somen pics would help...

Just a reminder that if you use the magic eye option so you can change you sky channels at the second t.v. then the rf2 output needs turning on to supply the small voltage to run it, this is well hidden in the sky options and a quick phone call to sky tech will get the hidden option you need to turn on.
Once you turn it on the red light should be on on your magic eye aeriel plug to confirm its powered then just tune into the new signal.

To turn on the power for the eye to work you need to press services on your sky remote, then 4 0 1 then select. this will take you into the installers menu, from there scroll down to RF Outlets and press select, then scroll down to the RF Outlet Power supply and turn it on. Save all settings and your done
