Sky or Cable??

Just thought id let everyone know virginmedia are looking for field technicians and i was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them as im thinking of trying something new and applying. Id be happy to hear anyones thoughts good or bad

what the pay like. i applied with sky back last year but they were only paying 16 half k

a think its only 12k training then when ure trained up it goes up to 18 and a half k

Dunno about Virgin Media but i had a mate who was a tech for them when they were ntl.
There's not a lot of electrical work there - mainly surface clipping where you can to get the job done as quick as possible, and a lot of the customers are pretty scummy. You get a lot of flack off them as well because it's a big company.
Of course that's just generally speaking - if you've got nothing else atm give it a whirl - you might like it and if it's rubbish you can always leave.
ntl used to give their permanent staff free family pack cable and telephone line rental, and half price on everything else apart from phone calls, eg call features, broadband, sports and movies, 'adult film content' etc.

I worked For sky many years ago in the call centre and they were always pretty decent with there staff. Free sky+ plus all the channels, free bupa healthcare, pension, discounts on places etc not too sure about going back to be called an apprentice Again though
