You can't just run the cable from the dish to a splitter.
You need a special sort of splitter (called a multiswitch) for satellite, and a Quad LNB with 4 cables to the multiswitch.
Then you'd need a satellite receiver in each room.
For a twin tuner box like sky+, you need 2 cables to each room.
And a multiswitch to cater for so many outputs is getting expensive...
Cable type CT100 is generally used for single runs, CT63dual for dual runs, although it is in fact a lower spec cable but more than adequate.
RG6 will be fine too.
If however you just want to distribute the output of the satellite receiver to many rooms, you can route that through the aerial distribution amplifier.
For small domestic installations, consider the loftbox units though they cater for only one twin-tuner box.
A couple of examples:
On one I did, I wired the living room for sky+. That box served the main TV only.
There was another box upstairs (basic sky box) which was routed through the TV/FM/DAB distribution system to 6 rooms. Due to the layout of the house, this was all done with discrete outdoor splitters - one 3-way on the back, one 3-way on the front and a 2-way next to the single-output distribution amplifier.
Remote return was specifically not wanted, so the kids could not play remote wars changing the channel on each other!
On another, I wired the system so that the output of the main sky+ box (no second box this time) was distributed to every room. Remote return was wanted this time, so I chose a proception ProAmp28R.
