Hi
I know it is not really a forum subject but does anyone know about Sky+

Few weeks back started to be really slow changing channels etc Did rebuild of hard drive
When we change channel now the TV guide does not display any program synopsis
Now tonight the picture keeps freezing (on different channels) but the sound continues

Any help would be appreciated
:):)

Hi Bugsey
I have rebooted and reformatted hard drive Also reset the LNB Which connectors do you suggest checking? Phone Sky the said give us ÂŁ65 and we will have a look:(

sky sux!!! mine went funny and i told them that for every day i was with out TV i would scratch that off the bill and charge them for my inconvience!!also told them that i would seek legal advice as they not committed to there own warranty scheme!! funny thing i got new sky box!!

I had a similar issue where they said the only way to fix would be to send an engineer at about 65 pounds. Asked to be put through to cancellations as I wasn't prepared to pay to have their equipment fixed. Again they waivered the cost and sent an engineer the following day!

Thanks for your help yesterday guys Cant physically check the external connections due to rain today , however, looking out of window they are not very tidy or been sealed with any tape ? Also the actual part they are fitted too is not level, although there is a level stuck to the bracket holding it Could this contribute to the problem ?

I would put money on it.

OR

The fellas who put it in pulled the cable through the wall a bit hard, damaging the screening, and over time it's just got worse. Sky+ really needs very good quality coax and must not be damaged, but that doesn't stop their 'engineers' drilling a tiny hole and using their full body weight to drag the cable through, of course without leaving a drip loop (a bit of clear silicone will do).

OR

there is a spider that's died in the cavity on the recieving 'node' on the dish (the sticky-out bit)

The chances of the dish being moved are pretty remote. The fact the sound continues tells me it's not a signal problem, probably a box problem. The guys who have dealt with sky are absolutely right, just tell them you want to cancel your subscription, they will soon come round to your way of thinking if they lose your custom due to their crap hardware. I had a similar problem, just out of warranty, and I was fed the same story. I got a reconditioned box when I said I would go to BT TV instead. It's been fine ever since.
Your only other option is to find a local sky engineer, or TV aerial guy, with an allignment meter. The digital systems are nigh on impossible to allign without the proper meter.
